Inside the Villa Magna Renovation in Highland Beach
Villa Magna Condominium, a premier oceanfront property in Highland Beach, recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that transformed not only its architecture, but the experience of its residents. As part of this expansive upgrade, KMIAG was brought in to oversee a complete art curation strategy—one that balanced design precision with community input.
The result: a cohesive, elevated collection of 41 original paintings, installed throughout the main lobby, clubroom, and three residential towers.
A Vision Shaped by Collaboration
Unlike typical design projects where decisions are made by a closed team, Villa Magna’s renovation included multiple layers of input. KMI Art Group worked directly with:
- The condominium management team
- Members of a dedicated interior design board
- The president of the condo association
- And most importantly, the residents themselves
In a rare and thoughtful move, residents were invited to take part in the selection process. KMIAG presented the full curation plan in advance, giving each floor’s residents the opportunity to preview—and if desired, request alternatives to—the painting designated for their space.
Alternate selections were offered that honored the building’s design vision while also accommodating personal preferences, resulting in an art collection that felt both unified and uniquely resident-approved.
Statement Art for the Main Floor
Six original works were curated for Villa Magna’s lobby and clubroom—spaces where first impressions matter most. These paintings were selected to complement:
- The natural materials used throughout the renovation
- The building’s refined coastal-modern aesthetic
- Key architectural elements and seating arrangements
Each piece provides a moment of quiet impact while enhancing the atmosphere of luxury, ease, and continuity.
Tailored Selections Across Three Towers
The remaining 35 paintings were installed throughout Villa Magna’s towers, including elevator lobbies, corridors, and common areas. These spaces required artwork that was elegant, calming, and widely appealing—without losing character or cohesion.
Each piece was selected to:
- Reflect the building’s finishes and color palette
- Support flow and wayfinding between residential floors
- Feel elevated yet approachable for daily interaction
Cohesion was maintained across all three towers, even when alternate options were installed based on resident preference—resulting in subtle variety within a unified aesthetic.
The Art of Balancing Taste and Design
Accommodating the aesthetic opinions of dozens of residents—while still executing a unified vision—required creative problem-solving, thoughtful communication, and logistical agility. By offering refined alternatives within the approved style parameters, KMIAG achieved a rare balance: personalized curation that never compromised design integrity.
Villa Magna now stands as a model for community-engaged art advisory, where every piece contributes to both the beauty of the space and the satisfaction of those who live in it.
Looking Ahead
KMIAG specializes in tailored art programs that support luxury renovations, multifamily residences, and shared spaces where design matters. Whether advising boards, working alongside developers, or directly engaging with end users, each project is approached with clarity, creativity, and respect for every detail.
